It was a great day in Winchester and Kent St. Several hundred people showed up for the ribbon cutting. All of Patsy's great grand kids were there. MIchelle was able to be there but not the grand sons.
The house is really nice. They have done a great job putting it together.
There are a lot great thngs in the works for future here in Winchester but elsewhere. So stayed tuned.

I couldn't see the long listed in the credits. They didn't list all the performers, mainly the publishers of the songs. I am wondering if it was written for the movie to represent a song and group of that time and to fit the scene. I also looked on youtube and couldn't find the song with my baby my baby left me.

I was looking at a copy of Billboard from Dec 2010 and the Icon CD was in the 40's. Congrates. Nice to see Patsy still charting.

Marti does a great job on "Never No More" and "Write Me in..." See the press release or check her out on myspace. _________________________________
RIPSAW RECORDS, in joint venture with GOOFIN' USA, will release "NOT FOR NOTHIN'," a 15 track CD by MARTI BROM (www.myspace.com/martirockabilly), during September 2010.
MARTI BROM, a performer internationally acclaimed for her hard-driving rockabilly and sultry traditional country vocals, collaborated on the album with premier Washington area musicians and Grammy-winning producer PETER BONTA to create a contender for best roots rock, hard-core country, rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, Americana album of the decade. According to MARTI, however, her goal was more modest - simply to record a DC-themed thank you note for the Washington music community's hospitality during her family's military tour of duty here.
"NOT FOR NOTHIN'"
MARTI's core support consisted of DC mainstays PEDRO SERA on guitar, LOUIE NEWMYER on bass, and SAUL McCORMACK on drums - with Boogie-Woogie Man DARYL DAVIS on piano. This energized crew was supplemented with key contributions from Dieselbilly BILL KIRCHEN on guitar and vocals, bluegrass fiddle player TAD MARKS, rockabilly BILLY HANCOCK on guitar, DAVE VAN ALLEN on twangin' steel guitar, veteran DEL PUSCHERT on tenor sax, down and dirty CHRIS WATLING on baritone sax, and bluegrass BRYAN SMITH on slappin' doghouse bass.
Marti selected all natural ingredients in making this tribute to the current and historical musical resources of the Washington area. Not only was the musical roster home-grown, so was the studio (BIAS), production team, engineer (Grammy Award winner Jim RobesoN) and yes, even the label. Songwriters with a D.C. area connection include rockabillies TEX RUBINOWITZ, JANIS MARTIN, and SEAN MENCHER, BILL KIRCHEN and his wife LOUISE, as well as Baltimore's honky-tonkin' ARTY HILL and Virginia's Austin, Texas transplant and long-time Marti songwriter, TERI JOYCE. MARTI also gives her signature spin to tunes popularized by Winchester's PATSY CLINE, rhythm and blues hall of famer RUTH BROWN, rockabilly/punk rocker MARTHA HULL, bluegrass hall of famer BILL HARRELL, and legendary Baltimore rocker PAT BROWN.
RIPSAW RECORDS (www.ripsawrecords.com) is an independent label specializing in roots rock 'n' roll and rockabilly, although its releases have ranged from jump blues to bluegrass. It has released critically acclaimed recordings by BILLY HANCOCK, THE UPTOWN RHYTHM KINGS, MARTHA HULL, BOBBY SMITH, LOUIS SETZER, KID TATER, and TEX RUBINOWITZ.

Mandy Barnett has a new CD, "Winter Wonderland". It 's a Christmast CD reminiscant of 1960's standards. It's getting rave reviews. Mandy also produced this project.

If Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis bring thier "Grits and Glamour Show" to your area go see it. It's a great evening of them permforming their hits and classic country acoustically. I saw it this weekend and it was one of the best shows I have seen either of them do. If space is available they will do a meet n greet afterwards. Lorrie sang "Leavin on Your Mind" at the Ashland Ky show.

Fellow APC fan club member, Bill Madigan passed away this weekend in Winchester VA. He was a great supporter of Patsy and the fan club. In the early days the fan club needed a place for a picnic. With very short notice he opened his farm up to the fans. Over the years he amassed a nice collection of Hollywood movie memorbalia. He had a museum on his farm and allowed the fan club free raine during our picnics.
It was a weekend highlight for the members to enjoy a Saturday afternoon of fellowship and hayrides at this place.
A dear man will be missed by many.

Got a chance to tune into the Opry last night while driving around. Got to hear Loretta Lynn's second set and she sang "She's Got You". Mandy has been heard doing Patsy song recently on the Opry as well as Lorrie Morgan. Glad to hear this.

Jim Reeves former secretary recently released a book of the many celebrities she has meet and her working for Jim and Mary Reeves. Titled "My memories of Jim Reeves" by Joyce Gray Jackson. The book can be found online at amazon.com. I believe it's at Ernest Tubbs retails stores.
The book is full of stories of many of our great singers. She talks briefly about Patsy and Charlie. The book is full of photos including her with my and Patsy's dear friends, The Armstrongs.
One of her friends gave her a pix of Patsy at the Kansas City that has never been published to my knowledge. It's one of the prettiest pictures of Patsy I have seen.
I look forward to getting this book read.

Patsy 2009 in Review 2009 was a busy year for Patsy fans. In April, thirty plus fans traveled to Nashville from around the U.S. to see shows in the limited run 15th anniversary of the musical Always Patsy Cline. Ted Swindley meet with fans after various shows. Mandy Barnett and Tere Myers reprised their roles at the Rymany Aud. All of Patsy’s Nashville based family were in attendance for the premiere. Thanks to Bill Cox, Theresa Rado. and Mark Willix for the wonderful display they put together for the run. Sally Struthers, from “All in the Family”, co-stared in APC musical in Ft. Worth, TX. Charlie Dick, fan clubbers, Mario Munoz and Kelly Urich came in for the show.. In the fall Patsy was honored in the Music City Garden with a rose and day lily named her honor. Charlie, Julie and Michelle attended the ribbon cutting along with fans from CA and SC. In the fall Mandy Barnett did some Patsy tribute shows in KY. She also included many classic country/pop tunes in the show. She even did some Christmas tunes in a December Show. Lisa Layne also did A Patsy tribute shows in TX and CA this year. While no official fan club gathering was done over Labor Day in Winchester, many fans did meet up to relax and remember Patsy. Many attended Jim McCoy’s tribute in WVA. In Oct. The Handley High School renamed its theater the Patsy Cline Theater in honor of their former student and early stage for Patsy. Willie Nelson did a concert to celebrate the event. Charlie and Julie were on hand for the concert and ribbon cutting. Roseanne Cash covered “She Got You” on her recent CD, “The List”. Lorrie Morgan did a stunning version of “Leavin On Your Mind” on her classics CD, “A Moment in Time”. Thanks to www.reclinerclub.com for jogging my memory! And special thanks to the family! Always Jimmy

Yes, that is Patsy. The song is seldom released in CD's today. Interesting "novelty type" song. I think it's fun like many fans do. Just upbeat.

I have heard a couple songs on Eddie show and Randy was quite a nice singer. I may have a 45rpm. I am thinking he probably only recorded singles, no albums.

Lorrie has a country standards CD called "A Moment in Time" due out Oct 27ish. Her first single will be "Leavin On Your Mind". She announced this last night at a show in IN. There is a video clip of her renedition on myspace and youtube. I know there are 2 version's on youtube. Look for the b/w one and that will be the current one. This is from a proposed DVD of them in the recording studio. I know Lorrie is excited about the project. She told us over lunch that this was recorded with all the musicians in the studio at one time. It's simple stunning. She also sang "Leavin" on the Opry last Friday.
