Mandy Barnett has had her website revamped last week. She has started doing a Patsy Cline Tribute show which included many Country/pop standards. I saw her last weekend in Bowling Green. Stunning show from a stunning talented singer. Check her out at www.mandybarnett.com

9-25-93, 16 yrs ago today Patsy, Bob Wills, The Carters and Hank Williams were each honored with thier imagines on a US Postage Stamp at Opry. Hal Ketchum was the only artists on that Opry show to remember anyone. He sang "I Fall to Pieces".
Opryland was still there and they made a big to do in the outdoor plaza area. It was an honor for me to be in the audience to see this. I still remember the day.

Also there will be no official fan club gathering in Winchester this year. Jimmy McCoy will be having his annual celebration in Berkley Springs, WVA.

There is a small pix of Patsy by the marque in Vegas this week. There's some sort of heat meter they do and the pix is included there. They mention she has one of the most valueable autographs of country singers.

On July 9 I attended the premiere of APC by www.studioplayers.org. Their director has done a wonderful job with the script. Premiere night was sold out, all other performances have sold out due to an article in our local paper, www.kentuckyconnect.com. They added more shows on Monday and sold out in 2 hours and added 2 more shows today expecting to see out those as well. They are considering doing the show next year. I have put memorabilia from collection on display which everyone really likes.

I went to Lorrie Morgan's show at the Riverfront during CMA Fan Fest 2009. After Lorrie's set for all of lower broadway and the cumberland river they played "I Fall To Pieces"!!!! by Patsy.
Mandy sang "Crazy" at her Courthouse show. She also did "Crazy" on the Opry. Mandy did a WSM interview and they played a couple of Mandy's Opry appearances of her doing Patsy songs.
So Patsy was well represented these past few days.

Mandy is appearing on a GAC show called, "On the Streets", hosted by Suzanne Alexander. The show repeats several times this weekend. These are the last 2 weeks of Always Patsy Cline at the Ryman. Watch Mandy's website and Facebook for discounts.

Last night was the first night of this new Opry show. They honored Patsy last night showing many photos on the monitors. Mandy Barnett did a melody of "Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Crazy". Lorrie Morgan did "Leavin Yr MInd" from her forthcoming classic CD. Loretta Lynn did her #1 "She's Got U" which she mentioned she had not done a long time.
It was a wonderful show that I heard over my computer from wsmonline.com.
Thanks Sean Sako-Alford for the pix. He had a great time.
I've emailed Mandy and Eddie Stubbs to let them how much I enjoyed. I have rec'd nice replies from both.

I have seen her show and frankly I was not that impressed. It was nice but Ieft feeling shorted. But I have seen some of the best performers and shows that are Patsy related so I have high standards.
When I saw her she did not use a band, it was recorded music.
Don't let me stop you from going just don't go with big expectations.

This from Hot Country News in the UK. It's quite an impressive fete. It is referring, of course, to the VoiceMasters overdub of "I'm A Hit Again," and other tracks from the VM library that have been released by a label in the UK. Here is the headline and story:
JIM REEVES GETS THE CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE
This week sees Jim Reeves retain the number one position at the top of the Hotdisc chart to bag the Christmas Number One for this year, over 44 years after his death in a plane crash all those years ago. The DJs of Britain and Europe have overwhelmingly given the thumbs up to his "new" single which was rediscovered recently. It was the final recording he ever made. New backing was added to it and it was picked up by H&H Music in the UK who released it as a single along with a double CD of rare recordings and a sprinkling of newly added tracks put behind his voice. "I'm A Hit Again" is the very appropriate title of the single and album, and it will stay at Number One for the next two weeks as there is no chart on Christmas Day.
As a footnote, there is a statement that "The Hotdisc charts are compiled from DJs and industry professionals' ratings of songs currently being promoted... They are put together weekly using ratings supplied by DJs who give scores to every song on the last three month's editions. The scores are totaled up and averaged out per week to give an accurate guide to the songs which are being championed by the industry. The aim is to showcase the songs which the DJs and media people are pinpointing as top quality songs, which is a very useful exercise, particularly to all our clients and DJS as it is free of politics, hype and rigging and done on merit."
This is the same music which you can acquire from my site by visiting the opening page here (www.jim-reeves.com) and choosing any of the overdub CDs. It's a wonderful Christmas present to see Jim be reaching the top of the European Hotdisc chart!!!! -- Julie

I have just discovered the first Patsy Cline "Duets" CD, released in 1999 and am wondering what happened to the two additional CD's that were planned. Does anyone know? I love the first one. Does anyone have any connections with Patsy's husband, Charlie Dick so they could ask him? I know I read somewhere that it took about 1 1/2 years to get the first one out. I'm anxious and very curious to know what has happened to the project and look forward to hearing from anyone who might know. I do hope it is still in the works. Mahalo, Ann Adams There was not a follow up as the first one was not profitable.

Shane, thanks for a great education. FYI, whilst in Nashville recently I had a chance to visit with Charlie and Julie and they mentioned the box set is no longer in print. Charlie was going to speak with MCA about it being back in print in the future. Until then there is Ebay.
