This from Hot Country News in the UK. It's quite an impressive fete. It is referring, of course, to the VoiceMasters overdub of "I'm A Hit Again," and other tracks from the VM library that have been released by a label in the UK. Here is the headline and story:
JIM REEVES GETS THE CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE
This week sees Jim Reeves retain the number one position at the top of the Hotdisc chart to bag the Christmas Number One for this year, over 44 years after his death in a plane crash all those years ago. The DJs of Britain and Europe have overwhelmingly given the thumbs up to his "new" single which was rediscovered recently. It was the final recording he ever made. New backing was added to it and it was picked up by H&H Music in the UK who released it as a single along with a double CD of rare recordings and a sprinkling of newly added tracks put behind his voice. "I'm A Hit Again" is the very appropriate title of the single and album, and it will stay at Number One for the next two weeks as there is no chart on Christmas Day.
As a footnote, there is a statement that "The Hotdisc charts are compiled from DJs and industry professionals' ratings of songs currently being promoted... They are put together weekly using ratings supplied by DJs who give scores to every song on the last three month's editions. The scores are totaled up and averaged out per week to give an accurate guide to the songs which are being championed by the industry. The aim is to showcase the songs which the DJs and media people are pinpointing as top quality songs, which is a very useful exercise, particularly to all our clients and DJS as it is free of politics, hype and rigging and done on merit."
This is the same music which you can acquire from my site by visiting the opening page here (www.jim-reeves.com) and choosing any of the overdub CDs. It's a wonderful Christmas present to see Jim be reaching the top of the European Hotdisc chart!!!! -- Julie
