A small town in Germany close to the border with Poland has a Country and Western society that was founded in the early 1960's by people who listened "illegally" to American Forces Network. On the 6th of March 2011 they held a simple tribute for Patsy during a church service. A lady in her 60's sang "If I Could See the World thro' the Eyes of a Child" , A new candle was lit from an old candle and then a 12 year old girl sang " Life is like a Mountain Railroad" The words were translated into German and printed for the congregation to read as the songs were sung.

Country music star George Hamilton IV took time out from a global tour to play to 50 fans at a Manchester [ UK ] church. The 72-year-old American singer – in the country to appear at a major festival – agreed to play a low-key gig at the Church of the Nazarene, in Brooklands, Sale. He entertained the tiny audience for nearly two hours before enjoying tea and cakes with parishioners. Hamilton’s career stretches back over half a century and he has toured with artists including Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent and Patsy Cline. He has also appeared on Broadway with Louis Armstrong and worked with Johnny Cash. menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1302081_country_star_takes_tour_detour_for_church_gig

'She's Got You': Patsy Cline-inspired dinner theater offers history, fun for fansBy Josette Keelor -- jkeelor@nvdaily.com
STEPHENSON -- Those who love history, theater and the music of Patsy Cline would be "crazy" to miss the upcoming opportunity to catch all three in the same place beginning July 9 at Historic Jordan Springs in Stephenson.
"This is the first time ever partnering with the Wayside Theatre in Middletown," says Colt Nutter, executive director and event producer at Jordan Springs. "We decided to partner with them for a number of reasons."

Plans include benches along the walk. A second walkway is planned along with a new memorial sign at the entrance recognizing all four victims of the crash. In time, the Chamber of Commerce hopes to create a new monument at the site. The Chamber's Patsy Cline Memorial Committee is considering several ideas aimed at reviving the memorial weekend in March with an eye forward to a huge 50th anniversary tuibute and memorial iin March of 2013. www.theboot.com/2010/01/14/patsy-cline-boulevard/She is one of Nashville's most legendary singers, one of the most acclaimed female vocalists of the 20th century. But Patsy Cline's life was cut tragically short at the young age of 30 -- at the height of her career -- in a 1963 plane crash. Today, 47 years later, the city planning commission in Nashville has approved a proposal to name a street after the late songbird on Music Row. Nashville's Tennessean newspaper reports that the plan is to change what is now Music Square East -- between Grand Avenue and Buddy Killen Circle -- to Patsy Cline Boulevard. On Jan. 19, an ordinance will go up before the city council -- one of three readings it will take to earn official approval.

It was such a comprehensive website whereas all the others are pretty much the same textbook information regurgitated, nothing particularily interesting or exciting in the least.. I have had people new to the Winchester situation asking me why the Patsified site has been apparently closed down thus making a lot of the recent and very relevant history un-available.

Hi Theresa and friends
It is quiet around here. I pop in most days and see very little new.
So lets get talking again,
I was in Germany at the end of September and met the son of the Patsy admirer I first met in 1967, sadly his dad was too ill to make the journey but he still enjoys the " magic beauty of the voice ". Now on CDs but he still has the tape recordings made from AFN and other western stations.
So many admirers with only local connections with other fans and admirers.
Maybe this is because she is a real artist and the admiration for her is sincere, Unlike so many "manufactured and marketed" performers where the "fan club" promotes sales of the recordings by increasing peer pressure and artificial "admiration" of the performer.

www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/oct/25/john-smeaton-michael-martin-glasgowIn the day room of a care home in north-east Glasgow, ( Scotland UK ) Patsy Cline's voice is gently coaxing a huddle of the frail and elderly back into the folds of long-forgotten romances. A nursing assistant leads a sprightly senior gentleman to the floor and they begin to weave and sway to tragic Patsy's lustrous notes. In the corner the candidate has knelt down to talk about the weather to the old lady in the lovely pink jumper.

A quote from www.midlandmirror.com/midlandmirror/article/145037Phillips said he considers his albums old friends, noting he doesn’t put much thought into their worth beyond the nostalgia and the feeling of being surrounded by familiar faces and voices. “These are people – like Dwight Yoakam, John Prine, Patsy Cline – that have told me parts of their life story,” he said. From ABBA to ZZ Top, if they’ve recorded an album, chances are John Phillips has it. The Midland man is what one would describe as a consummate collector, with more than 30,000 albums taking up nearly every nook and cranny – even an old refrigerator – in his quaint home.

By Alex Bridges -- abridges@nvdaily.com
(Updated 12:10 p.m.) WINCHESTER -- Country music legend Willie Nelson is slated to perform in October in Winchester at the dedication of the John Handley High School auditorium.
The venue -- now called the Patsy Cline Theater -- bears the name of the late singer who lived in the city and eventually went on to record numerous hits, including Nelson's own "Crazy."
Former state Sen. H. Russell "Russ" Potts announced the naming of the theater during a press conference Thursday morning inside the recently renovated auditorium. Potts serves as fundraising director for the multimillion dollar renovation/expansion of the school.
Potts also used the conference to announce that Nelson would perform at the school Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. for the dedication of the theater. Net proceeds from tickets sales for the event will go to benefit the Winchester Education Foundation, Potts said.
Tickets to the concert go on sale through Ticketmaster on Sept. 21, according to Schweiger.
For further developments visit nvdaily.com or read the print edition of The Northern Virginia Daily. There is also short TV news item about the dedication on this site www.tv3winchester.com/home/headlines/58524542.html

Alex MassieSaturday, 15th August 2009
Dolly Parton is a lady and Emmylou Harris is a dame, but Patsy Cline was a broad. A rootin' tootin' bar-room broad as fond of cussin' as she was of a beer and a good time. You gotta have her in this series sooner, rather than later. Unusually for a singer, she'd hang out with the songwriters - including Harlan Howard, Willie Nelson and Roger Miller - at Tootsies Orchid Lounge in Nashville; equally unusually she'd thank them for writing the songs that made her famous. Nelson, of course, wrote Crazy, the song that became Cline's signature.
Her style evolved from cowboy hats and country dresses to cashmere and pearls. Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray, for instamce, was a song for surburban betrayal, not down-home country disappointment. But for all the country-pop crossover, the Cline was a country singer at heart. And what mattered, more than anything else, was the Voice. So here she is in an early performance at the Grand Ole Opry performing A Church, A Courtroom and then Goodbye:There is a very long URL link in the article to a Youtube video.

A guest reported that these words were written on a purchase order form .
This form is to purchase bricks with the purchaser's name engraved on it. The bricks will be set into the sidewalk outside the house.
Looking at recent photographs of 608 and that shutter hanging at an angle it does seem as if the place has been neglected in the year it has been left empty. Lets hope the owners can raise enough money to cover their debts and then at least preserve the building.
